Step-by-Step Course Walkthrough
Overview

Once you have purchased Sessions with Cesar and login for the first time, you will be brought to the Sessions Manager page. You will first watch the Assess Yourself video from Cesar and he will introduce you to the course.

After this video, you can start the course right away, choose to go to My Profile or join in the Latest Posts from Cesar’s Pack.

When you start the course, you will be taken step by step through three Fundamental Lessons, and then to the Self-Evaluation, which will give you guidance so you can make your Individual Lesson choice. Once you make your selection, you will be able to start your Individual Lesson.

Within the Sessions Manager, large green tabs will show you which lesson you are currently on. We encourage you to take lessons at your own pace – you can leave the course at any time and pick up right where you left off once you login again. Smaller, light blue lesson buttons will indicate the next lesson that you will be asked to complete and past lessons that you have successfully finished will display green checkmarks. You may go back to these completed lessons to review any of the materials at any time during the course. Some lesson buttons will appear grey with an image of a lock on them. These lessons are not accessible until you have completed the lesson before it and passed the quiz at the end.

Each lesson gives a description of the lesson contents, as well as links to forums in Cesar’s Pack that correspond to that lesson’s material. Join in the ongoing dialog with fellow course-goers and discuss the topics you are reviewing while you take your lessons to enjoy a comprehensive learning experience. In addition to the video content, there are also other important support materials to help you work through the lessons, to help you track your progress with your dog and confirm your understanding – printable worksheets, milestones, calendars, articles, quizzes and audio guides. You can access these materials at any time before, during or after you watch the video lessons. If at any time you cannot see the video or print the support materials, we encourage you to access the Technical Questions section in HELP to get assistance and solve your video, audio or printing problem.

When you have completed the final lesson, there will be a final quiz so that you can feel satisfied about what you have learned and achieved, including a deeper and more balanced relationship with your dog.

1.
Sessions Manager: Fundamental Lessons
The Sessions Manager is the primary page that will guide you through the course and all the lessons. Once you have just started the course, viewed the Assess Yourself Introduction video, you arrive at this page, and are ready to begin the first Fundamental Lesson: “Honor the Being.” You can click either the large green “Go” tab to the left of the lesson description or the light blue lesson button that reads “Start Lesson Here” in order to begin your next lesson. You will also notice that the subsequent lesson, “Recognizing Energy,” is locked at this time. This lesson will remain locked until you have successfully completed the previous lesson, “Honor the Being.”

Once you have completed the first Fundamental Lesson: “Honor the Being,” you will move on to the next Fundamental Lesson: “Recognizing Energy.” Just as before, you can click either the large green “Go” tab to the left of the lesson description or the light blue lesson button that reads “Enter Lesson” in order to begin your next lesson. You can also go back to the first Fundamental Lesson: “Honor the Being” at any time and review previously viewed video lessons by clicking on any grey buttons that have a checkbox displayed within those buttons, indicating that they have been viewed and completed.

2.
Lesson Chapter Menu
Once you have chosen to begin a lesson by clicking “Go” or the light blue lesson button, you will arrive at the below Lesson Chapter Menu. Here you will be able to access the chapters of your current lesson. To select your next available chapter, simply select the chapter with the light blue button indicated by a sideways “play” triangle.

The below image shows the case where you have already completed the Introduction chapter as indicated by a green checkmark and are ready to begin the chapter “Fulfilling Dog & Animal.” Notice that the next chapters are locked. Just as with the lessons on the Sessions Manager page, each chapter will unlock once you successfully complete the chapter before. Please note that you can go back to the Introduction chapter or any chapter that you have already completed (indicated by a green check mark) at any time simply by clicking on that chapter.

Also on this page you will find “My Toolkit”. Here you can download and print all the additional course materials – audio guides, milestones, calendars and articles associated with each chapter. You can also choose the “Show All” feature and display every printable associated with the entire lesson. Remember that the printables and additional materials are tied to specific themes within each chapter that help anchor your learning and track your progress and contain answers to some of the quiz questions. They are an important part of the Sessions with Cesar

3.
Video Player
Once you have selected your lesson and then the chapter within that lesson from the chapter lesson menu, you are ready to begin watching the video lessons with Cesar. The player functions much like a traditional VHS, DVD or CD player – rewind and play buttons are available, as well as volume controls. You can also go back or forward in a video incrementally by clicking on the forward or rewind buttons.

You will also find “My Toolkit” in the video player. Just as in the Lesson Chapter Menu, here you can download and print all the additional course materials – audio guides, milestones, calendars and articles associated with each chapter. You can also choose the “Show All” feature and display every printable associated with the entire lesson. Remember that the printables and additional materials are tied to specific themes within each chapter that help anchor your learning and track your progress and contain answers to some of the quiz questions. They are an important part of the Sessions with Cesar course curriculum.

4.
Chapter Quizzes
Each chapter will end with a quiz to ensure that you have understood the most important lesson points and takeaways. As you pass each quiz, the next chapter or lesson will unlock. Simply click on the answer of your choice and the quiz will take you to the next question. Your results will be displayed at the end of the quiz.
We do want to make sure that you are comfortable with everything you have learned so we may recommend that you either retake the quiz or to review the chapter or lesson again depending on how many questions you got right. If you want to go through the quizzes afterwards to check your responses and understand the answers better, you will find Quiz Guides in the Toolkit for each of the relevant chapters and lessons.

5.
Sessions Manager: Self-Evaluation
Once you have completed the Fundamental Lessons, it is time for you to evaluate what Individual Lesson you should choose through the Self-Evaluation.
Just as before, a user can click either the large green “Go” tab to the left of the Self-Evaluation description or the light blue lesson button that reads “Take Self-Evaluation” in order to begin reviewing text and video information on each lesson choice.

Once inside the Self-Evaluation, you will be instructed to click the “Observation Worksheet” icon in order to download and print a worksheet to help you evaluate your dog’s behavior. Cesar urges you to take the time to properly observing and identifying your dog’s behavior before moving on to selecting your Individual Lesson. If you want time to review earlier lessons first, you can also go back to the Fundamental Lessons that you have previously viewed at any time by clicking on “Return to Course Menu” or by clicking “Sessions Manager” in the top navigation bar.
Once you have completed the “Observation Worksheet,” you should then review information on the Individual Lessons. If you have a New Dog or Puppy, proceed to either of those sections to see which situation best describes your dog needs. If you have a specific behavioral issue to address, please carefully review the videos and information in the Hyperactivity, Anxiety, Fear and Aggression sections.
We recommend that you review information in each and every issue-specific section – remember that what you think your dog’s issue is may not be the correct diagnosis. Make sure of your decision before selecting and starting the Individual Lesson.

Once you are informed and feel comfortable with your decision, you can then choose your Individual Lesson by selecting the “Select Your Individual Lesson” button at the bottom of the Self-Evaluation. If you are still not sure about which is the right Individual Lesson for you and your dog, we recommend you contact a dog professional for advice before making your final choice. To confirm your final decision, you must select the “Submit Your Final Decision” button. You will then be taken to the Sessions Manager page to begin your Individual Lesson!

6.
Sessions Manager: Individual Lessons
Back in the Sessions Manager, you will recognize a now familiar setting. Just as with the Fundamental Lessons, the Individual Lesson you selected is now open and available for viewing. Just as before, you can click either the large green “Go” tab to the left of your selected Individual Lesson description or the light blue lesson button that reads “1” in order to begin the lesson. Viewed and completed lessons will be indicated by checkboxes that appear in corresponding lesson boxes. These lessons are available to view at any time as you progress through the lesson.
Once you have selected your lesson, you will be directed through the Lesson Chapter Menu, Video Player and Quizzes as described above.

1.
What is the suggested amount of time it will take for me to complete the Sessions with Cesar course?
There is no specific length of time that we recommend to complete the course since each person’s situation is unique. You may find some problems are reasonably easily addressed and others that may take longer to solve. As you progress through the course over the coming days, weeks and months, be sure to practice the activities and solutions from the course with your dog and take the time for them to become consistent, routine behavior and then habit. Other issues may be much deeper rooted - we have found this to be true in a number of Fear and Anxiety cases - and it may take much more time to see a marked change in your dog.

To get the results you are looking for, be patient, pace yourself and understand that gradual improvement can be best solution for you and your dog. Whatever the problem or situation, you don't need to rush - you have 6 months to complete this course step by step and have plenty of time to make a long-lasting and positive change in your dog's behavior and your relationship with your dog.

At any time, we encourage you to visit Cesar’s Pack and participate in the forums where you can chat with other course-goers about how they are progressing with their dogs.

2.
My dog is still behaving in the same way he or she did before I took the course and I am almost finished. What am I doing wrong? Why isn’t my dog responding?
Reflect honestly on your behavior. Have you put what you learned into practice? Are you maintaining calm-assertive energy? We encourage you to review past lessons and visit the forums in Cesar’s Pack for help. You may also want to get friends and family members to assess your behavior. Sometimes getting an outside opinion can help. To see for yourself if you are displaying tense or nervous energy that you may not be aware of, ask someone to take a video of you. You may also want to consider hiring a dog professional in your area to guide you.

3.
Why are the lessons locked? Why can’t I just jump ahead to my individual lesson?
In order to tackle your dog's problem behavior, you must have the basics down pat first! For some people, simply implementing the lessons learned in the Fundamental Lessons will solve their dog's problem behavior. We have provided checks and balances along the way to help ensure that you have taken the time to review and internalize all the material available to you before moving on. We hope this will help you live in the moment and really focus on what you are learning instead of being concerned about getting ahead. Don't forget to take the time to put what you learn into practice.
4.
What is a printable? Do I need to print and read all of them?
A printable is either a worksheet to help guide you through what you are learning or an information resource that we think may be handy to have even when your computer is off. You can access the printables by clicking on the paper icon in the right-hand section of the video player for each corresponding lesson. We have included the printables as part of the course curriculum to ensure that you have as much support and guidance for you – wherever and whenever.

Additional Course Questions
5.
How long will it take my dog to learn Cesar’s methods?
It's not your dog that will be learning Cesar's methods – it's you! The key to putting Cesar's methods into action is changing your behavior. Once you do, the change may happen quite quickly – or it may happen gradually over a period of days, weeks, or months. The key is to be consistent, patient and to use the calendars and forums in Cesar’s Pack provided to help you. And remember, you have 6 months access to the course!

6.
How can I contact Cesar?
Unfortunately, Cesar is not available at this time for private consultations in person, via email or by phone. Cesar receives hundreds of emails each day from fans across the country looking for advice. So, as you can imagine, it is impossible for him to personally help each individual. Please feel free to participate in the forums in Cesar’s Pack to interact with other members of Sessions with Cesar, as well as with Cesar’s extended team. We recommend that you seek the help of a canine professional in your area if you are looking for one-on-one professional advice.

Also coming soon is Cesar LIVE, a series of interactive, live webinar sessions with Cesar that will focus on general and specific topics aligned with Sessions with Cesar's online curriculum. Cesar LIVE will go into more depth on different subjects each month and you will be able to ask questions about your individual dog situation or issue. Plus, you can participate in Cesar’s interactive polls and give and get feedback in real time.

Cesar is able to answer a few questions every year through the "Ask Cesar" column on the website. Cesar receives thousands of questions a month, so sending your question does not guarantee that he will address your question in his column. If you could like to send an email, please use the contact form.

7.
Can I be trained by or work for Cesar?
Cesar is not able to take on apprentices or teach his methods personally at this time unfortunately. His schedule does not allow for it. We encourage you to check out the many education options available on the International Association of Canine Professionals web site.
8.
Does my completion of Sessions with Cesar count as an accreditation?
Unfortunately, no. Although completion of this course will help you obtain an outstanding working knowledge of the relationship between you and your dog, it will not substitute for proper training in the numerous and highly specialized areas required to be a professional dog trainer or rehabilitator. Please do not presume that upon completion of the course you may represent yourself as being “trained by Cesar Millan.” This course is not intended to be a professional career education tool for dog trainers. It is designed with the specific purpose of helping individuals learn about and then deal with their own dog's problem behaviors. If you are interested in becoming a dog professional and would like to look into education options, we recommend contacting the International Association of Canine Professionals for further information.

I have a rescue dog. Is Sessions with Cesar right for me and my dog?
Yes, dogs adopted from any source can benefit from this course. You will begin by learning the basics of dog psychology. Then you will go through the Self-Evaluation which will help you identify your dog's problem. If your dog suffers from hyperactivity, fear, anxiety, or aggression, you will be able to identify your dog’s specific issue and choose the appropriate Individual Lesson. If you have just recently adopted your dog or are planning to adopt a dog or puppy, you may want to consider the New Dog or Puppy lesson, which will demonstrate the best way to integrate your new canine companion into your life.
13.
Why is the Aggression Track described as "informational"?
Though it is important to put safety first when working with any canine behavioral issue, this is especially true with aggression. Therefore, rather than recommend a specific course of action, the Aggression Lesson will focus on giving you the knowledge you need to understand your dog’s aggression issue better and to guide you to find a local professional who can offer hands-on help. Additionally, the lesson offers video demonstrations for some exercise activities that may help your dog release some of the pent-up energy and frustration which may be contributing to the aggression. We hope what you learn in the Aggression Lesson will allow you to become an integral and positive part of your dog's rehabilitation.
